S.H.A.P.E.: What’s Next?

The 5 weeks of SHAPE are a discovery process. You are examining your Spiritual gifts, your Heart’s desires, your natural Abilities, your Personality bent and your life Experiences. At the end of the 5 weeks, in response to God’s serving of us in Christ, we want to make it possible for everyone to figure out how they might serve within Christ’s Church according to the way God has shaped them. To facilitate this, we’re planning on three things.

First, a printed `catalogue’ of ministries and places to serve at St. James Lutheran. We’ll be handing these out soon. When you get yours, please have a look and ask, “Is there something here for which God has shaped me?”

Second, a `Ministry Chat’. What’s that? –We’ve got volunteers who will meet one-on-one with you at church to discuss your gifts and talents, etc., and try and help you find a place to serve at St. James that fits you. Kind of like chatting with the guidance counselor. Nobody has to do this, but, on the other hand, it will be really useful for connecting you with the right ministry at church. We will be asking you to sign up and make an appointment. It ought to be interesting and fun.

Third, a `Ministry Fair’ after worship on February 25 and 26. Here all our various ministries will have a table in the Fellowship Hall so that we can circulate around and ask them questions. Naturally, they are going to try and get you interested in what they do. But your job is just to keep asking, “What has God shaped me for?”

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received
to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms”
1 Peter 4:10
